DATASHEET

About the U7 Outdoor

The U7-Outdoor (U7 Outdoor) is a professional, all-weather outdoor WiFi 7 access point combining next-generation wireless performance with an integrated directional super antenna and software-switchable antenna modes for maximum deployment flexibility across East Africa's diverse outdoor environments. Measuring 170 × 208 × 54.5 mm (6.7 × 8.2 × 2.1") and weighing 1.2 kg (2.6 lb), the U7-Outdoor ships with wall and pole mounts included — supporting pole diameters of 1–2.36" (25–60 mm). The UV-stabilised polycarbonate and aluminium alloy enclosure with IPX6 weatherproofing and an operating temperature range of -30°C to 60°C (-22°F to 140°F) enables permanent outdoor installation across the full range of East African climates — from equatorial coastal heat to high-altitude highland conditions. Requires UniFi Network version 8.2.93 and later.

The U7-Outdoor delivers dual-band WiFi 7 (802.11be) with 4 spatial streams across 5 GHz with 2×2 DL/UL MU-MIMO reaching 4.3 Gbps (BW240) and 2.4 GHz with 2×2 DL/UL MU-MIMO reaching 688 Mbps (BW40). The software-switchable antenna system gives operators full control over coverage pattern without changing hardware — switch between the integrated directional internal antenna (12.5 dBi, 45° × 45° on 5 GHz / 8 dBi, 90° × 90° on 2.4 GHz) for long-range targeted coverage reaching 465 m² (5,000 ft²) in open spaces, and the included external omnidirectional antennas connected via (2) RP-SMA connectors (4 dBi, 360° × 30° on 5 GHz / 3 dBi, 360° × 30° on 2.4 GHz) for 360° area coverage. Maximum TX power of 26 dBm on 5 GHz and 23 dBm on 2.4 GHz delivers strong outdoor signal penetration and extended range across large open areas. Supported data rates span 7.3 Mbps to 4.3 Gbps on 802.11be WiFi 7 (MCS0–MCS13 NSS1/2, EHT 20/40/80/160/240), 7.3 Mbps to 2.4 Gbps on 802.11ax WiFi 6 (MCS0–MCS11 NSS1/2, HE 20/40/80/160), 6.5 Mbps to 1.7 Gbps on 802.11ac WiFi 5 (MCS0–MCS9 NSS1/2, VHT 20/40/80/160), and 6.5 Mbps to 300 Mbps on 802.11n (MCS0–MCS15, HT 20/40).

Advanced wireless features include wireless meshing, 802.11r fast roaming, 802.11k Radio Resource Management (RRM), 802.11v BSS Transition Management, band steering, advanced radio management, and Passpoint (Hotspot 2.0). Captive hotspot portal capabilities include custom branding landing pages, voucher authentication, payment-based authentication, external portal server support, and password authentication — ideal for outdoor hospitality areas, sports venues, campus networks, and public outdoor WiFi deployments across East Africa. Additional features include guest network isolation, Private Pre-Shared Key (PPSK), WiFi speed limiting, client device isolation, WiFi schedules, RADIUS over TLS (RadSec), and dynamic RADIUS-assigned VLAN.

Wired connectivity is provided via (1) 1/2.5 GbE RJ45 uplink port powered by PoE+ (42.5–57V DC) at a maximum of 19W. Management via Ethernet.
Additional specifications: Wind loading: 74.6 N at 200 km/h (16.8 lbf at 125 mph) — built to withstand high-wind coastal and highland conditions across East Africa Antennas: (1) directional internal antenna, (2) external omni antennas, (2) RP-SMA connectors for flexible antenna configuration Antenna beamwidth: 45° on 5 GHz and 90° on 2.4 GHz in directional mode Channel bandwidth: HT 20/40, VHT 20/40/80/160, HE 20/40/80/160, EHT 20/40/80/160/240 MHz System LEDs: (1) power White/Blue, (1) system White/Blue, (4) mesh signal Blue Operating frequency: 2400–2483.5 MHz and 5150–5850 MHz worldwide Up to 8 BSSIDs per radio Mount material: polycarbonate and SGCC steel CE, FCC, IC, and Anatel certified, fully NDAA compliant
