The UK-Ultra (UniFi Ken Ultra) is an incredibly compact, indoor/outdoor WiFi 5 access point earning its "Swiss Army Knife" nickname through unmatched deployment flexibility — combining weatherproof outdoor durability, external antenna upgrade capability, and versatile multi-surface mounting in a featherlight enclosure measuring just 137 × 84 × 34 mm (5.4 × 3.3 × 1.3") and weighing only 173 g (6.1 oz). The UV-stabilised polycarbonate enclosure with IPX6 weatherproofing and a remarkable operating temperature range of -40°C to 60°C (-40°F to 140°F) enables deployment in the harshest outdoor environments across East Africa — from equatorial heat to high-altitude cold. Wind loading rated at 33.2 N at 200 km/h (7.5 lbf at 125 mph) ensures structural integrity on exposed pole mounts in high-wind coastal and highland locations. Requires UniFi Network version 7.5.187 and later.
The UK-Ultra delivers dual-band WiFi 5 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) across 5 GHz with 2×2 DL MU-MIMO reaching 866.7 Mbps (BW80) and 2.4 GHz with 2×2 DL MU-MIMO reaching 300 Mbps (BW40). Antenna gain of 6.1 dBi on 5 GHz and 4.7 dBi on 2.4 GHz with maximum TX power of 20 dBm on both bands delivers reliable coverage across 115 m² (1,250 ft²) using the internal antenna — extendable significantly further with optional external antennas via the (2) RP-SMA connectors, making the UK-Ultra ideal for long-range point-to-area coverage in open outdoor environments, agricultural land, and rural deployments across East Africa. Supported data rates span 6.5 Mbps to 866.7 Mbps on 802.11ac (MCS0–MCS9 NSS1/2, VHT 20/40/80) and 6.5 Mbps to 300 Mbps on 802.11n (MCS0–MCS15, HT 20/40). Up to 8 BSSIDs per radio. Channel bandwidth supports HT 20/40, VHT 20/40/80, and HE 20/40/80 MHz.
Mounting versatility is unmatched in the UniFi AP lineup — the UK-Ultra supports ceiling, wall, pole (1–2"/25–50 mm diameter), and table mounting with all mounts included, plus an optional desktop stand for tabletop deployment. Advanced wireless features include wireless meshing, 802.11r fast roaming, 802.11k Radio Resource Management (RRM), 802.11v BSS Transition Management, band steering, advanced radio management, and Passpoint (Hotspot 2.0). Captive hotspot portal capabilities include custom branding landing pages, voucher authentication, payment-based authentication, external portal server support, and password authentication — essential for public WiFi and hospitality deployments across East Africa. Additional features include guest network isolation, Private Pre-Shared Key (PPSK), WiFi speed limiting, client device isolation, WiFi schedules, RADIUS over TLS (RadSec), and dynamic RADIUS-assigned VLAN.
Maximum power consumption is just 8W via PoE input (44–57V DC). The system LED array includes (1) power indicator in White/Blue and (4) mesh signal LEDs in Blue for clear at-a-glance mesh connectivity status. Management via Ethernet. Operating frequencies cover 2400–2483.5 MHz and 5150–5850 MHz worldwide, fully compliant with East African regulatory environments. CE, FCC, IC, and Anatel certified, fully NDAA compliant.
