About the U6 Long-Range
The U6-LR (U6 Long-Range) is a ceiling-mounted WiFi 6 access point purpose-engineered for large, open, and high-ceiling environments where maximum coverage range and high client density are the primary requirements. Measuring ⌀220 × 48 mm (⌀8.7 × 1.9") and weighing 800 g (1.8 lb) device-only or 930 g (2.1 lb) with the included pro stainless steel (SUS304) mount, the U6-LR ships with a professional-grade ceiling and wall mount for secure installation in demanding environments. The polycarbonate enclosure with IP54 weatherproofing enables deployment in semi-outdoor areas, covered walkways, loading bays, and other partially exposed locations across East Africa. Management via Ethernet and Bluetooth enables instant out-of-box setup. Requires UniFi Network version 6.0.45 and later.
The U6-LR delivers dual-band WiFi 6 (802.11ax) with 8 spatial streams across 5 GHz with 4×4 DL/UL MU-MIMO reaching 2.4 Gbps (BW160) and 2.4 GHz with 4×4 SU-MIMO reaching 600 Mbps (BW40). Antenna gain of 5.5 dBi on 5 GHz and 4 dBi on 2.4 GHz with maximum TX power of 26 dBm on both bands — the highest TX power in the U6 access point range — delivers extended reliable coverage across 185 m² (2,000 ft²) for 350+ simultaneously connected devices. Supported data rates span 7.3 Mbps to 2.4 Gbps on 802.11ax (MCS0–MCS11 NSS1/2/3/4 HE 20/40/80 and NSS1/2 HE 160), 6.5 Mbps to 1.7 Gbps on 802.11ac (MCS0–MCS9 NSS1/2/3/4 VHT 20/40/80 and NSS1/2 VHT 160), and 6.5 Mbps to 600 Mbps on 802.11n (MCS0–MCS31, HT 20/40). Channel bandwidth supports HT 20/40, VHT 20/40/80/160, and HE 20/40/80/160 MHz. Up to 8 BSSIDs per radio.
Wired connectivity is provided via (1) GbE RJ45 uplink port powered by PoE+ (44–57V DC) at a maximum of 18.5W — requiring a PoE+ capable switch port or injector for deployment. Advanced wireless features include wireless meshing, 802.11r fast roaming, 802.11k Radio Resource Management (RRM), 802.11v BSS Transition Management, band steering, advanced radio management, and Passpoint (Hotspot 2.0) for seamless client roaming across large multi-AP deployments. Captive hotspot portal capabilities include custom branding landing pages, voucher authentication, payment-based authentication, external portal server support, and password authentication — valuable for large hospitality venues, sports facilities, and public WiFi deployments across East Africa. Additional features include guest network isolation, Private Pre-Shared Key (PPSK), WiFi speed limiting, client device isolation, WiFi schedules, RADIUS over TLS (RadSec), and dynamic RADIUS-assigned VLAN.
Maximum power consumption is 18.5W via PoE+ input (44–57V DC). The white/blue system LED provides operational status indication. Operating frequencies cover 2400–2483.5 MHz and 5150–5850 MHz worldwide, fully compliant with East African regulatory environments. Operating temperature -30°C to 60°C (-22°F to 140°F) with 5–95% non-condensing humidity — a wide operating range suited to the full spectrum of East African environments from air-conditioned warehouses to semi-outdoor covered areas.
