About the Gateway Fiber (UXG-Fiber)
The UXG-Fiber (Gateway Fiber) is a high-performance desktop 10G independent security gateway combining dual 10G WAN connectivity, an integrated 4-port 2.5 GbE switch with PoE+, and enterprise-grade security in a compact form factor measuring 212.8 × 127.6 × 30 mm (8.4 × 5 × 1.2") and weighing just 605 g (1.3 lb). Powered by a Quad-core ARM® Cortex®-A73 processor at 2.2 GHz with 2 GB system memory, the UXG-Fiber delivers 5 Gbps IDS/IPS routing throughput — making it purpose-built for fiber-connected environments across East Africa where multi-gigabit ISP speeds are increasingly available. Managed via CloudKey, Official UniFi Hosting, or UniFi Network Server running UniFi Network, the UXG-Fiber integrates seamlessly into existing UniFi deployments as a dedicated high-performance gateway.
The UXG-Fiber features a dual 10G WAN configuration with (1) 10G SFP+ and (1) 10 GbE RJ45 WAN port, expandable to up to 6 WAN ports total for maximum redundancy and multi-WAN load balancing. On the LAN side, (1) 10G SFP+ LAN port provides high-speed uplink to core switching infrastructure, while an integrated 4-port 2.5 GbE RJ45 switch (2.5G/1G/100M/10M) including (1) PoE+ port at 30W with a 30W total PoE budget at 50–57V powers access points, IP cameras, and other PoE devices directly — eliminating the need for a separate PoE injector in smaller deployments. MAC address table supports 4,000 entries.
Security is delivered through a stateful firewall, application-aware Layer 7 firewall, DPI and traffic identification, zone-based firewall with advanced filtering across regions, domains, and applications, content filtering, intrusion prevention (IPS/IDS) with 55,000+ CyberSecure threat signatures, and ad blocking. All Traffic Flows inspection is fully supported. VPN and SD-WAN capabilities include license-free SD-WAN, Site Magic site-to-site VPN, IPsec, OpenVPN, WireGuard, L2TP VPN server, Teleport zero-configuration VPN, and OpenVPN and WireGuard VPN client support for secure connectivity between offices, remote workers, and branch locations across East Africa.
Advanced networking features include multi-WAN load balancing, OSPF dynamic routing, advanced QoS, multicast DNS (mDNS), advanced NAT (SNAT/DNAT/Masquerade/NAT Pooling/1-to-1 NAT), integrated RADIUS server with RADIUS over TLS (RadSec), LTE failover via UniFi LTE Backup, internet quality and outage reporting, virtual network override, and policy-based WAN and VPN routing — providing carrier-grade flexibility for complex network topologies.
Maximum power consumption is 25W excluding PoE output via DC jack (54V DC/1.1A) with an included adapter supporting 100–240V AC universal input — compatible with power standards across all East African markets. Heat dissipation of 85 BTU/hr excluding PoE output. The polycarbonate enclosure includes LED indicators for Ethernet, SFP+, and system status, a factory reset button, and management via Ethernet and Bluetooth. ESD/EMP protection: ±8 kV air, ±4 kV contact. Operating temperature 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F) with 5–95% non-condensing humidity suits indoor environments across East Africa. CE, FCC, IC, and Anatel certified, fully NDAA compliant.
Ideal for office networks, small data centers, fiber-connected locations, mid-market enterprise deployments, multi-site businesses, and any network across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and the wider East and Central Africa region requiring 5 Gbps IDS/IPS security, dual 10G WAN connectivity, integrated 2.5 GbE switching with PoE+, 55,000+ threat signatures, and professional-grade VPN and SD-WAN capabilities in a compact, energy-efficient desktop appliance.
