The
USW-Flex (UniFi Switch Flex) is an
ultra-compact, indoor/outdoor Layer 2 managed PoE switch purpose-built for flexible deployment across East Africa's most challenging network environments — from outdoor campus installations and rooftop access point deployments to remote location switching and harsh industrial environments. Measuring just
122.5 × 107.1 × 28 mm (4.8 × 4.2 × 1.1") and weighing only
230 g (8.1 oz), the USW-Flex supports
compact desktop, wall, and pole mounting and is self-powered entirely via its
(1) GbE PoE++ input port — requiring no separate power adapter or power outlet at the deployment location. Requires
UniFi Network version 5.10.3 and later.
The
USW-Flex provides
(4) GbE RJ45 PoE+ output ports (1G/100M/10M) at up to 25W per port — powering access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones, and IoT devices in outdoor and remote locations.
Total PoE availability varies by input power method:
- 46W with PoE++ or 60W PoE adapter input
- 20W with PoE+ input
- 8W with PoE input
Switching capacity of 10 Gbps with 5 Gbps non-blocking throughput and 7 Mpps forwarding rate delivers wire-speed performance across all five ports. The
outdoor-ready design with an
operating temperature range of -40°C to 65°C (-40°F to 149°F) — one of the widest ranges of any UniFi switch — and
5–95% non-condensing humidity tolerance handles the full spectrum of East African outdoor environments from coastal humidity to highland cold.
±16kV ESD protection on all air and contact ports safeguards the switch and connected equipment against electrical surges from lightning and static discharge — critical for exposed outdoor East African deployments.
The
Layer 2 feature set includes:
- Egress rate limiting for bandwidth management per port
- Flow control for congestion management
- Port isolation for client and device separation
- Port mirroring for network monitoring and troubleshooting
- Jumbo frames for large payload support
