About the Dream Router 7 (UDR7)
The UDR7 (Dream Router 7) is a next-generation, all-in-one desktop 10G Cloud Gateway combining a full-featured security gateway, tri-band WiFi 7 access point, integrated PoE switch, NVR storage, and complete UniFi application suite in a distinctive cylindrical compact desktop enclosure measuring ⌀110 × 184.1 mm (⌀4.3 × 7.3") and weighing 1.1 kg (2.4 lb). Powered by a Quad-core ARM® Cortex®-A53 processor at 1.5 GHz with 3 GB system memory, the UDR7 runs the full UniFi Application Suite — Network, Protect, Access, Talk, and Connect — managing 30+ UniFi devices and 300+ simultaneous clients without requiring separate controller hardware. Requires UniFi Network version 9.0.108 and later.
The UDR7 features integrated tri-band WiFi 7 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be) across 6 GHz, 5 GHz, and 2.4 GHz with 2×2 DL/UL MU-MIMO on all three bands. Maximum throughput reaches 5.7 Gbps on 6 GHz, 4.3 Gbps on 5 GHz, and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. Antenna gain of 6 dBi on 6 GHz, 7 dBi on 5 GHz, and 5 dBi on 2.4 GHz with maximum TX power of 24 dBm on 6 GHz, 26 dBm on 5 GHz, and 23 dBm on 2.4 GHz delivers reliable wireless coverage across 160 m² (1,750 ft²). Wireless security supports WPA-PSK and WPA-Enterprise (WPA/WPA2/WPA3/PPSK) with up to 4 BSSIDs per radio. UniFi Protect supports (5) HD, (2) 2K, and (1) 4K managed cameras with pre-installed 64 GB microSD NVR storage — expandable via the microSD card slot — for local surveillance recording without additional hardware.
Wired connectivity includes (1) 10G SFP+ WAN port (10G/1G), (1) 2.5 GbE RJ45 WAN port (2.5G/1G/100M/10M) with support for up to 4 WAN ports total, and (4) 2.5 GbE RJ45 LAN ports including (1) PoE port at 15.4W with a 15.4W total PoE budget at 44–57V for powering access points, IP cameras, or VoIP phones directly. MAC address table supports 2,000 entries. IDS/IPS throughput of 2.3 Gbps with 20,000+ CyberSecure signatures provides enterprise-grade threat protection.
Advanced networking features include multi-WAN load balancing, OSPF dynamic routing, advanced QoS, multicast DNS (mDNS), advanced NAT (SNAT/DNAT/Masquerade/NAT Pooling/1-to-1 NAT), integrated RADIUS server with RADIUS over TLS (RadSec), LTE failover via UniFi LTE Backup, IPv6 ISP support, IGMP proxy, customisable DHCP server, policy-based WAN and VPN routing, virtual network override, internet quality and outage reporting, and 802.1Q VLAN with guest traffic isolation. Security features include a stateful firewall, application-aware Layer 7 firewall, DPI and traffic identification, zone-based firewall with advanced filtering across regions, domains, and applications, content filtering, IDS/IPS, ad blocking, and VLAN and subnet-based traffic segmentation. VPN capabilities include license-free SD-WAN, Site Magic site-to-site VPN, IPsec, OpenVPN, WireGuard, L2TP VPN server, Teleport zero-configuration VPN, Identity Endpoint one-click VPN, and OpenVPN and WireGuard VPN client support.
Maximum power consumption is 26W excluding PoE output via internal 50W AC/DC power supply supporting 100–240V AC universal input at 1.5A maximum, 50/60 Hz — fully compatible with power standards across all East African markets. Heat dissipation of 89 BTU/hr excluding PoE output. The polycarbonate enclosure features a 0.96" status display, system LED indicator, factory reset button, and management via Ethernet and Bluetooth. ESD/EMP protection: ±8 kV air, ±4 kV contact. Operating temperature -10°C to 40°C (14°F to 104°F) with 5–95% non-condensing humidity suits the full range of tropical and variable climates across East Africa.
