UniFi Dream Machine

The UDM (Dream Machine) is an all-in-one UniFi Gateway and access point combining a full-featured Gigabit security gateway and integrated WiFi 5 access point in a single compact polycarbonate enclosure weighing just 1.1 kg (2.3 lb). Powered by a Quad-core ARM® Cortex®-A57 processor at 1.7 GHz with 2 GB system memory, the UDM delivers full Gigabit routing performance while running UniFi Network natively for unified device management — eliminating the need for a separate controller, gateway, and access point in smaller deployments. Management is available via Ethernet and Bluetooth with a factory reset button for straightforward deployment and recovery.

The UDM features integrated WiFi 5 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) with up to 8 BSSIDs per radio and wireless security supporting WPA-PSK and WPA-Enterprise (WPA2, TKIP/AES) with 802.11w/PMF. Supported data rates reach 6.5 Mbps to 1.7 Gbps on 802.11ac (MCS0–MCS9 NSS1/2/3/4, VHT 20/40/80/160), 6.5 Mbps to 300 Mbps on 802.11n (MCS0–MCS15, HT 20/40), and standard legacy rates on 802.11g, 802.11b, and 802.11a — ensuring broad compatibility with all client devices across East African networks. Wired connectivity is provided via (4) GbE RJ45 LAN ports for direct device connections.

Security features include zone-based firewall with advanced filtering across regions, domains, and applications, content filtering, and intrusion prevention (IPS/IDS) — providing enterprise-grade network protection without requiring additional hardware or licences. License-free SD-WAN enables cost-effective site-to-site connectivity between branch locations. Additional internet failover via UniFi LTE Backup maintains connectivity during primary link outages — particularly valuable in East African environments where ISP reliability can be variable. Internet quality and outage reporting provides visibility into link performance over time.

Maximum power consumption is 26W with the polycarbonate enclosure requiring no active cooling in standard indoor environments. Management via Ethernet and Bluetooth enables instant out-of-box setup via the UniFi mobile application. Fully NDAA compliant.
