Wi-Fi 7 with real wired capacity to back it up
The AR180 Plus supports the Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) standard across 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, with a combined wireless throughput of up to 3.6Gbps. On its own, fast Wi-Fi doesn't help if the internet connection behind it is slow, which is why the router pairs this with a 2.5GE WAN/LAN port capable of handling broadband links well beyond standard gigabit speeds. For an office running video calls, cloud backups, and multiple users simultaneously, this means the wireless side of the network is no longer the limiting factor.
A dedicated port for latency-sensitive traffic
One of the four Gigabit Ethernet ports is a dedicated Turbo acceleration port that prioritizes traffic passing through it. In practice, this is useful for wiring in a device where lag is most noticeable, such as a meeting room video conferencing unit or a point-of-sale terminal, giving it forwarding priority over general office traffic without needing to configure QoS rules manually.
Built-in VPN for branch connectivity
With support for up to 12 IPSec VPN tunnels and 200Mbps of VPN forwarding performance, the AR180 Plus can maintain secure encrypted links back to a head office or between branches without a separate VPN appliance. This suits businesses running more than one location that need staff to reach shared systems securely, without routing everything through a public internet connection unprotected.
Coverage that extends without extra cabling
Smart Mesh support allows up to 8 AR180 Plus or compatible units to form a single wireless network, auto-discovering each other within a 20 metre range. For offices with awkward layouts, concrete walls, or multiple floors, this allows coverage to be extended room by room as the business grows, rather than requiring a full Ethernet backbone run to every access point from day one.

Simplifi Networks distributes Huawei networking equipment to businesses and network installers across Kenya, Uganda, and the wider East and Central African region. For SMEs and branch offices looking to move up from a basic home router without jumping straight to a full enterprise rack, the AR180 Plus offers a practical middle ground for businesses planning to scale their setup over time.
